Leaders
It isn’t often that a .500 team will end up winning a division title, but in the case of the Big South, it would blow away the competition. At 7-9, Elon is one of only four teams with at least a .400 winning percentage this season. UNC Asheville, Winthrop, and High Point are the other three, with Winthrop being the preseason favorite to finish atop the leader board. It makes a college basketball fan wonder if one of these teams really deserves to go to the Big Dance when stronger teams in tougher leagues are overlooked.

Player of the Week
Raymond Arrington, a junior guard at Radford, averaged 23.5 points in the Highlanders’ two league wins last week. He hit 10 of 15 from behind the arc, five in each game. He only committed two turnovers, both against Winthrop, while shooting 58 percent from the field.

Homesick
Coastal Carolina is winless in its nine games on the road so far this season. The Chanticleers have made this season the second straight that they’ve started 0-9 away from Kimbel Arena.

Battle of the Big Boys
Even after losing at Birmingham-Southern over the weekend, High Point is still technically undefeated inside the Conference (Birmingham-Southern is an affiliate member of the Big South this season). The Panthers will meet UNC Asheville, the other undefeated squad within league play, this Wednesday.

Goin’ for the Record
Winthrop extended its Big South Conference home winning streak to 23 straight with a 76-64 victory over league-leading Elon. That streak is now the second longest in the nation behind Utah’s 45 in a row. Michigan State’s streak came to a halt at 24 with a loss to Wisconsin last weekend.
