At Last!!
Sure it took two coaches and 17 games but the LIU Blackbirds finally got into the win column this weekend with an 80-64 decision over St. Francis. For interim coach Ron Brown it will take much more than one win to shed the interim title for LIU. Some of the potential candidates that are being considered for the head job (vacated by Ray Martin on January 4th) are: Iona assistant Tony Chiles, Providence assistant Steve DeMeo, Seton Hall assistant Brian Nash, and Adelphi head coach Jim Ferry.

Player of the Week
Ricardo Scott, Central Connecticut State
The sophomore guard from Beatown helped extend Central Connecticut State’s winning streak to six games and keep the Blue Devils alone atop the NEC standings at 9-1 (14-4 overall). Scott, who earns his first NEC Player of the Week award, averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and shot 11-21 (.524) from the floor.

Rookie of the week
Rob Monroe, Quinnipiac
Monroe gave an encore performance as he nets the rookie of the week award for the second straight week. Monroe had 9 assists in the OT upset over Wagner, 87-85.
