Morning Dish

The Morning Dish – Wednesday, June 4th:

Herdsman Leaving: Marshall head coach Greg White unexpectedly resigned yesterday after seven seasons at the helm of the Thundering Herd. White, who cited family reasons as the motivation for leaving Huntington, accepted the head coaching position at the University of Charleston (West Virginia), signing a three-year contract. Charleston, a Division II school where White coached from 1990-95, had an opening since coach Jayson Gee left two weeks ago to take an assistant position at St. Bonaventure. White was 115-84 at Marshall, and was 68-70 at Charleston.

Another Going Cross-State: Former Iowa State forward Adam Haluska has announced that he’s transferring to Iowa. Haluska, who averaged over 9 points and 3 boards last season, was granted his unconditional release after the Larry Eustachy mess. After sitting out next season due to NCAA rules, Haluska will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Staying Longer: Former Utah State player Jeremy Vague is going to be spending a little more time behind bars. Apparently Vague shoved and choked deputy Herbert Weston in the prison recreation area. Vague, who along with Jason Napier, also a former USU player, were sentenced to 45 days in prison, in addition to school and work release, for stealing golf clubs. Vague and Napier played on the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.
