Notes:
The Skinny:

Everyone wants the next Dirk Nowitzki. Maciej Lampe could indeed be the next Dirk. At 7-0, 240 pounds, the Polish native has much of the same skill set that Dirk had at he same age (18). He runs the floor well, can handle the ball, and has a smooth shooting stroke from the outside. He could also be more advanced at the same stage in the post than Dirk was.

Lampe didn’t get much of a chance to play at Spain’s highest level league, but did tear up the lower divisions with no problems. A lot of teams may regret passing up on Dirk back in the late 90’s, and with Europeans all the rage in today’s NBA, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Lampe picked in the middle of the lottery. He most certainly will not fall out of it – unless he withdraws from the draft.

The last time the Bucks had a shot at a top-notch foreign player (Dirk Nowitzki in 1997), they traded him away. The Bucks won’t let that mistake happen twice as they snatch up the kid everyone is calling the next Dirk. Admittedly at this point it’s unknown if a) Lampe will stay in the draft or b) he’ll be obligated to stay in Spain, but at this point, the Polish native looks like a good pick for the Bucks.
