VCU: Grant Cashes In on Gator Fortunes

Grant Cashes In on Gator Fortunes: Florida assistant coach Anthony Grant has left the defending national champions to accept his first head coaching position at Virginia Commonwealth. VCU targeted Grant from the moment former coach Jeff Capel left the program to lead Oklahoma. Grant has been an assistant to Florida coach Billy Donovan for the past 12 seasons. He will bring Florida’s fast-paced style to VCU, which has a strong foundation after Capel helped rebuild the program in his four years at the school. Grant’s hire completes one revolution of the coaching carousel that involved Indiana, Oklahoma, VCU and now a Florida assistant. [4/19/06]
