Lane is No Goat: Former St. Bonaventure athletic director Gothard Lane and school officials have settled a lawsuit in which Lane sued the university for damaging his reputation. Neither side disclosed the value of the settlement. It ends Lane’s chapter of the embarrassing St. Bonaventure scandal involving an ineligible transfer student. Lane said he warned school officials, including the former university president and coach, that Jamil Terrell did not meet NCAA requirements for JuCo transfers. The NCAA ruled Terrell ineligible toward the end of the 2003 season, and the school had to forfeit all wins in which he played. In response, the team refused to play its final games of the season, creating a national uproar. St. Bonaventure officials tried to make Lane a scapegoat in the incident, and he refused to let the school slander his name. [4/23/06]
