Where Are Iowa’s Fans?: Iowa is on pace to set a record low in attendance at Carver-Hawkeye Arena this season. The stadium seats 15,500 people, but on average, only 10,131 Hawkeye fans attend games this season. University officials blame a drop is season-ticket sales, late start times dictated by TV contracts and the team’s poor play. Iowa hoped the arrival of new coach Todd Lickliter would help address the first and third problems. However, season-ticket sales increased only slightly, and the Hawkeyes are 11-12 so far this season. Iowa officials plan to work with the TV networks to negotiate earlier tip-off times because fewer fans attend the later games. [2/02/08]
