Illinois: Illini Apologize for Taunting Gordon

Illini Apologize for Taunting Gordon: Illinois coach Bruce Weber and other Illinois officials apologized to Indiana and Hoosiers freshman Eric Gordon for obscene chants by fans during Thursday’s game in Champaign. Gordon had verbally committed to Illinois, but Indiana continued recruiting him and he eventually signed with Kelvin Sampson and the Hoosiers. Illinois fans chanted “Liar, liar,” among often obscene chants throughout the 83-79 double overtime loss. Gordon struggled in the first half, scoring only one point. But he finished with 19 points, including a big three-pointer that helped send the game into overtime.
