Indiana: Sampson Likely Out as Indiana’s Coach

Sampson Likely Out as Indiana’s Coach: Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson will likely be suspended and later fired by the university because of an allegation that he committed five major NCAA violations, a report from ESPN.com said. Sampson, who made more than 100 unallowable phone calls while on probation for violations at his prior Oklahoma stint, has until today to be informed of the school’s decision. He would either reach a monetary settlement to resign this week or the school could hold off on its sanction and wait another week for further investigation. The No. 15 Hoosiers beat Big Ten rival Purdue 77-68 with Sampson, who said he didn’t intentionally violate the rules, on the sidelines. Indiana plays Northwestern Saturday. [2/22/08]
