Syracuse: Good Thing the Games Don’t Count Yet

Syracuse apparently could use some more practice games after falling to Division II Le Moyne 82-79 in its final exhibition game before the season starts.

It’s a good thing the Orange have a few more days to work out the kinks before starting the season Monday against Albany in the first round of the 2K Sports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Junior forward Wesley Johnson, a transfer from Iowa State, gave the shocked Orange fans a reason for optimism by leading the team with 34 points.  Johnson hit a clutch three-pointer with 22 seconds remaining that gave Syracuse a 79-78 lead.

However, the Dolphins’ Christopher Johnson responded with a three-pointer at the other end with 8.3 seconds to go. Le Moyne added a free throw in the closing seconds for the winning three-point margin.
