Hawaii senior forward Bill Amis will miss about a month while recovering from a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, which he injured in the Rainbow Warriors’ exhibition win against BYU-Hawaii Nov. 5, according to the Star Bulletin.

Amis is a key member of Hawaii’s lineup because he led the team in rebounding last season while finishing second in scoring. He averaged 10.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for Hawaii.

Amis will wear a protective boot while he heals.

Hawaii opens the season Nov. 14 against Southern Utah and faces a couple of tough from the Mountain West — BYU and New Mexico — during the first few weeks of the season.
