Fordham coach Dereck Whittenburg was released from his contract Thursday, according to an Atlantic 10 Conference release. Assistant coach Jared Grasso will be the interim head coach for the rest of the season.
Whittenburg was in his seventh season at Fordham, where he compiled a 69-112 record. The Rams were off to a 1-4 start this year.
Grasso is in his fourth year as an assistant coach at Fordham. He lost his first game at the helm, on Saturday, to Bowling Green, 67-46.
