Talking Hoops With Ted Sarandis – June 22, 2016

Welcome to Talking Hoops with Ted Sarandis. In this edition, we focus largely on the upcoming NBA Draft. We also note the upcoming Hoopville Spring Finale this weekend in Boston, another part of a busy time.

First, we zero in on the NBA Draft, where reports surfaced that the top overall pick is now known, and there is no surprise there. We look at this draft as one that doesn’t contain a sure-fire franchise player, though we might look at it differently in a few years. Especially noteworthy to that end is that there are several players who were complete unknowns back in November but now figure to be lottery picks.

Next, we look at the underclassmen who declared. The early entry list contained over 100 players, 57 of whom withdrew before the May 25 deadline. That left 60 underclassmen, plus 45 international players who are also considered early entrants, still in, along with a strong group of seniors. A number of these players will not get drafted and then face an uphill battle making an NBA roster.

After that, we look at transfers, which have been impacted by the NBA Draft. The transfer wire has topped 600 players and isn’t really slowing down, and a couple of players recently chose new homes.

We close with some final thoughts, including a look at some of what we have coming up here on Hoopville. Besides coverage of the NBA Draft on Thursday night into Friday, we will have a special Morning Dish on Friday morning recapping the NBA Draft to go with other content, and the Hoopville Spring Finale follows this weekend.
