Talking Hoops With Ted Sarandis – April 2, 2017

Welcome to the latest edition of Talking Hoops With Ted Sarandis. The Final Four is here, and at this point only the national championship game remains.

The national semifinals were played on Saturday, and we break down those games. First, we go over the nightcap, where neither North Carolina nor Oregon played very well, though the game came right down to the end. Both teams shot below 38 percent from the field, and North Carolina’s frontcourt had to overwhelm Oregon’s to take this one, especially at the end of the game.

We then break down Gonzaga’s win over South Carolina, where the Bulldogs had a lead, lost it and then took over down the stretch to advance. Gonzaga’s backcourt led the way, but big man Zach Collins had perhaps his most impressive outing of his freshman season at a great time, coming off the bench for 14 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots.

With that, we look forward to Monday night’s national championship game. It is a matchup of a Gonzaga team that is playing like the best team in the country and a North Carolina team that has at times looked like the best team in the country. Gonzaga has the size up front to match up with North Carolina, so their guards could make all the difference, especially with Joel Berry II having two bad ankles that probably won’t be much better come Monday night.

We hope you enjoy this episode, and then check out College Basketball Tonight, where guests join us to talk more about these two games and look ahead to Monday night.
