Talking Hoops With Ted Sarandis – March 17, 2019

Welcome to the latest edition of Talking Hoops With Ted Sarandis. The big Saturday full of conference championship games is in the books, and it was quite a day of action.

We begin with Ted looking back at the Big East championship game, which capped off quite a few days of action at Madison Square Garden. Villanova became the first team to win three consecutive Big East Tournaments by holding off Seton Hall in a dandy.

After that, we look at the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament, where St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis each used a big second half to move on to the championship game. It’s a matchup that few would have expected before the tournament, though before the season many expected Saint Louis to be in this position.

From there, we look at some of the other championship results and the implications, noting that it was generally a good day in terms of top seeds in mid-majors winning their championships (which aids teams hoping to reach the NIT) and only Oregon was a bid thief as far as the NCAA Tournament was concerned. Oregon’s dominating win over Washington in the Pac-12 championship game brings up the big question of who will make it from the Pac-12.

We hope you enjoy the podcast and share it with your fellow college basketball fans. Be sure to join us soon for College Basketball Tonight as we break down the NCAA Tournament field with great guests joining us.
