After a bad year and a subsequent drawn-out coaching search, who would have imagined UCLA would even remotely contend in the Pac-12? Plus a former Bruin chooses an interesting home on a busy day of action.
We look back at many of the key games on another busy Saturday, with a lot of conference races being tight and only getting tighter, as well as a big game in one conference in particular.
The Ivy League is looking a little different than expected, with only one of the top three preseason picks among the top three at the midway point. Plus the leaders win in a couple of other mid-major leagues, the MAAC continues to be a tight race, and one MAAC coach will be sticking around a little longer.

A battle for second place was easily the best of the big TV games on the night, with the winning team getting a big boost from an emerging role player. Plus a mismatch in the Big 12, a clear leader in the Patriot League, and a Cyclone is done for the season and perhaps his college career.
One conference had three games on the day that had various levels of surprise to end a weekend that had a lot of it there. Plus another surprise in the Big East, one team got a win they needed while another rallied to avoid a bad loss in the Big Ten, and an in-state rivalry closes out an early day.
