In the Big East, one coach who just continues to win also continues to not get a lot of pub about the job he’s done. Plus a surprise in the ACC, more overtime success for an SEC school, and good news coming out of a scary moment from a night earlier.
The Spartans got a big win with a dramatic finish, but let’s hope both their opponent and the sport didn’t lose a bright young star. Plus a team remains undefeated overall, another stays undefeated in conference, and a traditional power continues to struggle at home.
A battle for second place was easily the best of the big TV games on the night, with the winning team getting a big boost from an emerging role player. Plus a mismatch in the Big 12, a clear leader in the Patriot League, and a Cyclone is done for the season and perhaps his college career.
One conference had three games on the day that had various levels of surprise to end a weekend that had a lot of it there. Plus another surprise in the Big East, one team got a win they needed while another rallied to avoid a bad loss in the Big Ten, and an in-state rivalry closes out an early day.
The greatest rivalry in the sport delivered again, though the Tar Heels would love to have it back – especially at the free throw line. Plus the Hurricanes get two players back but lose another one.
Not many people have been talking about Maryland for a while, but after Friday night, that is bound to change, especially if they can keep up what they’re doing. Plus ahead of a big day of rivalry games, Mother Nature intervenes and interferes, a tough ending for a competitor in New Haven, and a few other interesting results on a light night of action.
Cincinnati won a big road game that by all rights, they should have lost, including what happened before the game. Plus the tight race continues out west, a new leader in the CAA, and now there’s no mystery in a couple of recent Big Ten stories.
Another long losing streak has come to an end, and against an unlikely opponent as well. Plus a tale of two halves in the ACC, some big shooting in the Big East and one Big Ten game, and a Big 12 team is finally on the board as well.
Tuesday night set up the Big Ten standings that tell you how little separation there is from 1 to 12 in the conference. Plus key games and news off the court in the SEC, a scuffle after an Atlantic 10 game, and a statue will be unveiled for a tragically fallen star player.
The Jayhawks did what their opposing coach figured, and they were too much for the Longhorns in the second half. Plus the Seminoles win another, the MEAC race gets a little tighter, and one conference leader has been especially hot on the road of late.
