With the regular season winding down, the picture in the ACC is getting clearer, with help from Wednesday night. Plus warm weather is a problem for one court, history could be made in the Big 12 soon, a first conference title is happening, and a Trojan will move on.
It isn’t the best of times in Storrs, Connecticut, to be sure. Plus close ones in the Big Ten that go for the road teams, a bigger road comeback in the ACC, and a Tiger will be out indefinitely.
Miami gets a win they needed more than numbers might suggest. Plus no real surprise results, and another season-ending knee injury, this time to a solid NCAA Tournament contender.
Following up a Final Four is hard, but one program’s next act gets a big boost. Plus more good action in the competitive SEC, you can just about guarantee one result in the ACC, and a rare bad night for a young star who’s had many good ones.
In our latest podcast, we start with a big game in the Big East, then move on to the sudden lack of undefeated teams, a big injury in the ACC, and a powerhouse that looks vulnerable in a stacked conference they have long ruled.
While a freshman point guard has put up a lot of big games and did so again on Wednesday, the night belonged to a younger, smaller and lesser-known guard. Plus there’s a new all-time wins leader in South Bend, and a couple of surprise conference starts continue in the Midwest.
There is not a dominant team, but there’s one recent champion who is pretty good. Plus a couple of teams have suspensions, one team hopes to gain someone, and we remember a broadcasting great who has passed.
Can one player make this much difference? When it comes to Oklahoma, that answer seems increasingly more obvious by the minute, as Trae Young is the hottest player in the country.
It was time for a wild college basketball Saturday, and we sure got one yesterday. A busy and varied schedule was filled with surprises, upsets that maybe weren’t really that big of upsets, as well as near-upsets. There was something for just about everyone, and it had all the feeling of one of those Saturdays in the midst of conference schedules where also rans rise up to topple powers, but at least a month earlier than we usually get them.
A hometown hero has Providence poised to continue to even greater heights never before seen. Plus more tournament action gets going, and another 20-20 game is in the books but in a losing effort.
