At first, the results were concerning, but the bottom is falling out of a Pac-12 favorite’s season. Plus home teams win again in the Big Ten, a very tight race in one mid-major almost got even tighter, and a Buckeye will be out to deal with an important matter off the court.
If good things come in threes, college basketball delivered good things in the form of three big overtime games on Thursday night. Plus an early showdown is ahead in one conference, a few other interesting results on the night, and a Husky must sit because of academics.
In the early going, the standings in one conference look very little like the preseason poll, especially with the lone undefeated team having a nice lead. Plus the Mountaineers win a slugfest, a Blue Devil is out for a while and another ACC player succumbs to a constant source of pain for the season.
The Sun Belt in 2018-19 continued where it has often been in recent years, as a good, solid conference, but also one struggling to break into a higher tier among Division I leagues.
The field of 68 is set at last, after much discussion about the bubble, and there is much to think about from top seeds on to who didn’t make it. Plus a few last championship games, some injury updates, and other postseason tournaments announce their fields as well.

Cassius Winston showed why he’s a midseason All-American, leading Michigan State as it stopped Nebraska’s 20-game home winning streak. Hofstra also keeps its streak going, plenty of excitement in the OVC, WCC and Conference USA, another coach ejected and more.
There’s little talk of Georgia State as an at-large team in mid-January, but there probably would’ve been a year ago. Plus, notes on Texas Tech, Maryland, Loyola Chicago, Wofford, Purdue’s Trevion Williams and more.
The Jimmy V Classic was another good doubleheader, with the second game telling us more about one team and its growing pains than the other. Plus one team brings a four-game losing streak into a long final exam break, another loses a big man, and blowing a big lead and losing the game makes it a bad loss.
