On a night of upsets and near-misses, Mike Hopkins got his biggest win as a head coach. It’s a win that can really help set a tone in his first season in Seattle. It’s a win that tells you the Huskies should be a little more competitive than perhaps first thought.

And it’s a win that shows what this team can be. Because it’s not like the Huskies have lacked talent in recent years at all.

16 teams now remain in the NCAA Tournament, and chances are, there is at least one or two among them that you did not expect. And likewise, there is probably a team or two that you expected to be alive that is not.

It was that kind of weekend. The first round might not have had much in the way of drama or upsets, but the second round made up for that, including on Sunday where two No. 2 seeds went down. One of them was a team many felt had a case for a No. 1 seed. Ted Sarandis and I talk about all of this and much more on College Basketball Tonight.

College Basketball Tonight – March 19, 2017

Welcome to College Basketball Tonight! We are down to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament, and if the first round didn’t have what you want, the second round surely did. The results of the two rounds could not be more different.

First, we look at Sunday’s action, where two No. 2 seeds went down a day after the first No. 1 seed went down. Along the way, we look at how Villanova’s loss followed from seeding issues the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee had. The Wildcats lost to a good Wisconsin team that underachieved a bit in the regular season in part from injuries, but there are plenty of arguments to be had that they were seeded lower than they should have been.

We hope you enjoyed COLLEGE BASKETBALL TONIGHT during the 2016 NCAA Tournament. COLLEGE BASKETBALL TONIGHT is a comprehensive look at the NCAA Tournament hosted by veteran college basketball broadcaster Ted Sarandis, along with co-hosts Mike Jarvis and Terry O'Connor, both former Division I coaches. It also included many great guests, including Hoopville's own Phil Kasiecki.
