In our latest podcast, we look at a big game in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge as it continues on, then look back at a couple of big tournaments and who won them. Also, we look at some big news out of Georgetown that isn’t so good, and look ahead to conference games coming up.
On a day where football took center stage, a school known for its success on the gridiron saw continued success on the hardwood thanks to a guy who can just coach. Plus the Spartans get a big win in the nation’s capital, a few other results of note, and one big tournament announces its field for next year.
Oklahoma State continued what has been a pretty good week for the Big 12 in winning tournaments, though they are being chased. Plus a great week for a first-year coach, the Blue Demons remain undefeated, and a late game was as good as advertised.
Michigan got the first big win under its new head coach, and now has a chance for another one right behind it. Plus the Orlando Invitational gets going, lots of drama in a tournament out west, and a cool story coming out of the big upset in Durham a couple of nights earlier.
Two Big 12 programs got big wins on Wednesday and hope each is a sign of better things to come. Plus more tournament action includes a few other championship games, a Tiger will be out as long as first thought, and wrist injuries sideline a couple of key veterans.
With early season tournaments mostly behind us, we look back on a few of them and some of the big stories from them. Also, some key injuries have occurred, plus the sport continues to be challenged to get attention in November and December.
For the second time in three days, a big-time matchup for a tournament championship was at least as good as advertised. Plus several more tournament final matchups are set, a concerning development in Nashville, and a first loss of the season in a blowout.
Gonzaga’s exciting 89-87 victory against Duke in the Maui Invitational final, entertaining as it was, still came down to defense. Plus, recaps of a host of tournament action including Creighton, Bradley and Toledo winning titles.
The most telling game of the day had one team pulling out another where they seemed vulnerable and it was one that got away for their opponent. Plus tournament action heats up, with a few surprises as a day off looms for many of them.
In addition to always being a day for football, Thanksgiving has slowly become more and more of a day for college basketball in the decade. This year, Turkey Day brought a good number of quality matchups. It also was a day for resurgence for a number of schools who sent a message to not count them out, some showing that their seasons are not over after the loss of a key player, others displaying that they are not ready to fade from the national spotlight just yet, after many had assumed they have done just that.
