In our latest podcast, we start with a double overtime thriller in the Big Ten, then talk about two long-time powerhouses who could be headed for the unthinkable, a few key results from Wednesday night, and a Big 12 school that hasn’t looked as good of late after a promising start to the season.
2019 ended with a reminder of how conference play is different, especially having to go on the road. Plus a shocker in Ames, a near-shocker in the Big East, and a mix of conference and non-conference games closed out the year.
In our latest podcast, we look at a big game in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge as it continues on, then look back at a couple of big tournaments and who won them. Also, we look at some big news out of Georgetown that isn’t so good, and look ahead to conference games coming up.
The Big Ten/ACC Challenge had a couple of its headline games on tap, and both were convincing wins for the ACC school though the series is all tied up. That, and a few other notes from Tuesday night.
Tournaments may be the talk of the town, but Stephen F. Austin took that over for one night at least. Plus a big tournament delivers, one tournament is getting smaller, and a new assistant is coming to Omaha.
The first day of action in the Maui Invitational didn’t quite start off as expected, but that might help in a year where it may be surpassed in terms of having the best field. Plus more tournament action includes one championship, a program first in Richmond, and a Hawkeye is done for the season.
Just a week into the season, we’ve already had our first shocker and second top team in the polls to go down. Plus other close calls in the same conference, the Gavitt Games continue, and a conference’s attempt at a resurgence continues.
So much for any talk about one team possibly going undefeated, and given that their conference is better than some think despite its downward trend, there are teams capable of beating them anyway. Plus no surprises in one big conference, while it was a good day to be a road team in another, and a mild surprise in an academic league opener.
For the second time in three days, a big-time matchup for a tournament championship was at least as good as advertised. Plus several more tournament final matchups are set, a concerning development in Nashville, and a first loss of the season in a blowout.
It wasn’t even Big Monday yet but Kansas and Kansas State were busy and received challenges-maybe unexpected ones to some. Also, Buffalo wins on the road again and enters the already highly debated national rankings.
