In our first off-season podcast, we look back once more on the national championship game and the implications of a couple of aspects of that and a prior game, then turn to a couple of big schools with a coaching change. We end with a look at some player movement.
We’re down to two defense-oriented teams for the national championship in two games that had some similarities, though one lacked the controversy of the other one. Plus a couple of coaching moves, a non-move of note, and a powerhouse school is investigating a claim about a star player.
With two championship games on tap, one was won by a team that needed it and another was not. Plus the tournaments continue with some entertaining games out west, a captain will move on, and another big pickup for a new head coach.
A conference that has had some big changes continues to win. Plus a top freshman’s team loses again, the Atlantic 10 goes on the road, and a fine start continues for a school under the radar.
A great week concludes for a team that got a key player back. Plus a pair of good matchups lived up to their billing, some difficulties at an outdoor game, and a key Boilermaker is set to return.
The thinking seems to be that the main motivation for St. John’s to be ready to hire Chris Mullin is that the school wants to follow the Fred Hoiberg model of hiring an alumnus who was a former NBA front office before making a splash as a college coach, but the Red Storm will get far more with Mullin.
The Final Four is set, with two teams from different stations in life advancing on Sunday. Plus coaching news starts to take over, including some vacancies filled.
