Ah, it’s started already. We’re still a couple weeks away from final exams for most schools, a time when especially it seems like highly favored schools need to pay a little extra attention in games that they should win easily. But we saw several teams have more trouble than expected in games Tuesday night that all expected to be blowouts.
The Patriot League’s first season with ten programs was a highly successful one, but there is plenty of reason to believe there are even better days right around the corner.
The Greyhounds will be new all over the place this season, with three starters gone, a new head coach and being a newcomer to the league. They could be a sleeper in their first year with a veteran perimeter unit.
Loyola almost let the Hall of Fame Tip-Off championship game in its bracket get away, but they got a three-point play with 1.5 seconds left to pull out a game they once looked like they would run away with.
Friday at the MAAC Tournament saw six games played as both the men and women had conference tournament action at the same site.
We’ll have more a little later on Boston College, who advanced to New York with an 82-70 win over St. John’s in the nightcap on Tuesday in the NIT Season Tip-Off. They will take on Purdue in one semifinal, while UAB and Oklahoma won later in the evening and will meet in the other.
