A triple-overtime game between Quinnipiac and Siena in the MAAC between two of many teams battling for the top had a pair of individual offensive eruptions on Sunday. Also, Missouri State’s remarkable in-season improvement, St. John’s with a stunning rally and Michigan State dominates second half against Ohio State.
It’s time to ask a seemingly age-old question: is this the year Kansas finally gets knocked off in the Big 12? Plus a big win in the Big East, there’s a leader in the Valley again, and both a pleasant surprise and disappointment in Philadelphia.
In our latest podcast, we touch on a couple of news stories related to the FBI investigation and what they may portend, then talk about a few conference races of interest. Ted also gives out his midseason awards before we wrap up and look ahead to the weekend.
It has not been the best of seasons for the Missouri Valley Conference so far, but a big midseason showdown is coming after Loyola and Illinois State won on Wednesday. Also, St. John’s bounces back in the Big East and a Maine native has a historic performance for his homestate Black Bears.
Kansas State appears to be back, and so is the Big 12 we’ve come to know over recent years. Plus, double ejections in Tulsa/Connecticut, South Carolina pulls out another in the SEC, Houston keeps rolling, VCU back on the rise and more.
So much for any talk about one team possibly going undefeated, and given that their conference is better than some think despite its downward trend, there are teams capable of beating them anyway. Plus no surprises in one big conference, while it was a good day to be a road team in another, and a mild surprise in an academic league opener.
