The first day of action in the Maui Invitational didn’t quite start off as expected, but that might help in a year where it may be surpassed in terms of having the best field. Plus more tournament action includes one championship, a program first in Richmond, and a Hawkeye is done for the season.
At long last, Texas gets the kind of win they had yet to pick up under Shaka Smart, and not a moment too soon. Plus a Pirate star is out for a bit, a bounceback attempt continues, and some extra sessions were needed on the day.

The 2017-18 Pac-12 season was one to forget, but the conference tried to outdo itself a year later. The ending was at least a little better this time around, but questions remain going forward.

For the second time in three days, a big-time matchup for a tournament championship was at least as good as advertised. Plus several more tournament final matchups are set, a concerning development in Nashville, and a first loss of the season in a blowout.
From before the season right to the bitter end, 2017-18 was a season to forget for the Pac-12. It can only get better from here for all of them, or so we think, and it gets really interesting trying to look ahead save for one idea: next season will be better.
It was hard to guess who was the more desperate team going into the latest incarnation of the Duke/North Carolina rivalry, which resumed Thursday night.
