You can go a long time in this college basketball season and not have a better day of games than Tuesday provided, as the day was loaded with power matchups, revivals of rivalries, and just plain good games that were worthy of the national platforms they were provided, even if played at times that were the furthest thing from prime time.
We continue our look at our favorite games for every day of the season, our ultimate dream road trip through an entire college basketball season. We started on Monday with November, continued with December on Tuesday, and today we move into January:
Going into the 2015-16 season, we wanted to highlight what we see as the best game of the day, for every day of the regular season. The games we would go to every day, if we could.
Presenting our list of 20 teams to watch for 2015-16. Some aare Final Four favorites. Some are rebuilding powers. Some are (or should be) trendy sleeper, Cinderella, you-name-it picks that you may not know much about now, but may be hearing from in March. All are worth keeping an eye on.
Rather quietly, Bryce Drew is building a formidable program at Valparaiso, which won a Horizon League title for the third time in four years.
Robert Morris is the type of small eastern private school that fits in so perfectly in the college basketball landscape. Tuesday night, though, the Colonials may as well have been Kentucky, for the role of villain they took on in the Northeast Conference championship game.
It was a great night for a few players in the Ivy League while the race evened up. Plus the Horizon League has a regular season champion, the Gators have some personnel questions, and the Miners will be short a coach on what will be a very busy day of action.
Coming off an outstanding season, the Atlantic 10 has flown under the radar this year. The league won’t be getting six teams in the NCAA Tournament again, but hitting the stretch run, no conference is more intriguing at the top than the A-10.
We should know who the Pac-12 Coach of the Year will be after Sunday. Plus a team can’t go to their locker room, an expected showdown may have lost its luster, and a Cardinal is long gone with the regular season almost over.
