In a season where even the best teams are very capable of losing games to teams they shouldn’t, one team almost did twice and then won a tournament in impressive fashion. Plus a tournament runner-up is without a few players, a few helpers were handed out without scoring, and a few other results as the tournaments finish up.
Two Big 12 programs got big wins on Wednesday and hope each is a sign of better things to come. Plus more tournament action includes a few other championship games, a Tiger will be out as long as first thought, and wrist injuries sideline a couple of key veterans.
Saint Mary’s continued to bounce back from a loss last week and push toward a second straight NCAA Tournament bid, something that once seemed unthinkable. Plus a Tiger will sit a few more games, while a new Mountaineer will get to play right away.
For the second week in a row, Kentucky didn’t look quite like the team they did on opening night, but this time didn’t pay the same price for it. Plus the Aggies keep winning without a key player, a Blazer is gone, and a few other games had noteworthy results.
The battle of the Cougars in Houston had the best ending of the night. Plus the Backyard Brawl is decisive, a transfer case is settled, and another school appeals its NCAA punishment.
For the first time in 15 years, the Big 12 champion was not Kansas. The league was once again atop conference rankings, though, led by a program whose rise the past couple years very nearly resulted in a national title.
Monday night saw still more coaching changes due to firings, as well as a position still on hold at Nebraska. Also, Colorado advances in the NIT and Coastal Carolina drills West Virginia in CBI.
With just two days of games left, the big questions revolve around potential top seeds in the NCAA Tournament and a few potential bid thieves that remain. Plus more coaching news, a couple of players announce plans to transfer, and a different start to the season is ahead for one conference.

On a Big Monday with a some heavy hitters in action, the night also included one of the sport’s best conference rivalries of late with Bucknell and Lehigh squaring off in the Patriot League. Also, Virginia bounces back in a big way and Kansas still rules Monday nights.
