Wilmington: Seahawks Stay In-State for Coach [4/21/06]

Seahawks Stay In-State for Coach: UNC – Wilmington’s coach search is over, and the flavor remains decidedly Carolinian. The Seahawks hired Charlotte assistant Benny Moss to his first head coaching position, bringing him across the state of North Carolina. Moss had been an assistant coach under Bobby Lutz for the past six seasons. The 49ers had a 114-69 record during that span. Moss hopes he can continue his Charlotte success in Wilmington where the Seahawks have become a perennial NCAA Tournament contender in the Colonial Athletic Association. The CAA placed more teams in the tournament than Charlotte’s conference, the Atlantic 10, did this past season. Check out Hoopville’s complete list of 2006 coaching changes, including the Seahawks’ recent hire of Moss to replace former coach Brad Brownell, who moved to Wright State. [4/21/06]
