San Francisco: Sutton Gets Win No. 800

Sutton Gets Win No. 800: It may be with an unexpected team, but Eddie Sutton got his 800th career win when San Fransisco came back to beat Pepperdine 85-82. Sutton, who retired from Oklahoma State a little less than two years ago after a drunk driving arrest, got his 800th victory on the fourth attempt when Danny Cavic hit a three-pointer with 14.9 seconds left. Sutton joins Bob Knight, Dean Smith, Jim Phelan and Adloph Rupp as coaches with 800 wins. Sutton has coached at Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State in addition to San Fransisco. He has won more than 71 percent of his games and been to three Final Fours. The next coach to 800 wins seems likely to be Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski.
