Southern Miss coach Larry Eustachy criticized Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury for not playing Eustachy’s Golden Eagles, according to SportingNews.com report.

After Southern Miss lost to Mississippi 81-79 Saturday, Eustachy thanked the Rebels and coach Andy Kennedy for setting up the in-state series. However, he quickly lamented that Kennedy “seems to be a little more comfortable in himself than ol’ what’s-his-name,” a passing shot at Stansbury.

Eustachy might be asking for a war of words with Mississippi State, but he also might have a point. Southern Miss is not exactly a powerhouse despite playing in the usually respectable Conference USA. However, Mississippi State’s non-conference schedule is littered with weaker opponents like Bethune-Cookman, Centenary and Mississippi Valley State.
