SEC Day Three

SEC Tournament – Day Three Rundown

by Ryan Glenn

12:09 P.M. EST
It is about 50 minutes until the Alabama-Florida game tips off. Both teams are out warming up and seemed to be pumped for what should be a heated game. The doors just opened and the fans are quickly piling in. This should be a great atmosphere! They also announced that they caught the Atlanta courthouse shooter. This had been the buzz around the tournament all day yesterday, and everybody is relieved he is now in custody.

1:09 P.M.
The game just tipped off. There are still a few empty seats. I guess some Kentucky fans do not want to see anybody but the Wildcats play.

1:16 P.M.
Florida has started the game 4-5 on their three point shots. If they keep shooting like that, I do not think they will be stopped.

1:41 P.M.
Florida has stopped shooting lights out, but they are playing great defense and are up by nine with 3:31 left in the half.

1:55 P.M.
Florida is up 27-20 at the break, but Alabama is looking ready to make a run. The Georgia Dome is almost packed, as the Kentucky fans venture in.

2:29 P.M.
Well I was right, Alabama is playing much better basketball. They had the lead at one point, and now trail by just one. This is going to be an outstanding finish.

2:41 P.M.
Florida is playing slightly better and now holds a five point lead. Kentucky’s players just came out and watched a few minutes of the game. They were given a standing ovation from the Kentucky faithful, which was quite a big group of fans.

3:05 P.M.
Florida sealed the win with six free throws from Matt Walsh in the last twenty seconds. Florida moves to the finals.

3:36 P.M.
The dome is packed and blue is all around. That’s right, it is time for the Kentucky-LSU game. LSU is out to a quick 9-6 lead and both teams are pumped.

3:53 P.M.
Antonio Hudson is keeping LSU in this game. He has hit three treys for the Tigers and have them within two points.

3:58 P.M.
Hudson now has 14 points in 12 minutes, and that has give LSU a one-point lead.

4:15 P.M.
LSU is up one at the half. I must say, I’m impressed. LSU is beginning to show there is no question that they can play with the big boys.

4:36 P.M.
The Tigers have come out and scored four quick points, to take a 36-31 lead. Tubby Smith took out all his starters and put in the bench. I’m guessing that will send a message to them.

5:08 P.M.
Chuck Hayes just picked up his fourth foul with six minutes left.

5:29 P.M.
We have overtime! LSU’s Brandon Bass made a shot at the buzzer to force the extra period.

5:46 P.M.
LSU was up by five in overtime, but Kentucky has come storming back. Kentucky is down by one with 16.4 left and they have the ball.

5:55 P.M.
Chuck Hayes hit the game winner for Kentucky. The crowd went crazy. I also bet SEC Officials were happy, as there would be a lot less fans tomorrow if Kentucky had lost.

6:20 P.M.
I just had a chance to talk to some Kentucky players. Apparently, when they win tomorrow, they will be cutting down the nets.

6:47 P.M.
It is going to be good to be able to relax tonight. Tomorrow’s contest should be a great one, if both of the teams play with the intensity they played with today. I will be back tomorrow!
