NC State: Reynolds Coliseum Catches Fire After Transformer Explosion

Reynolds on Fire: A faulty transformer is to blame for the fire and subsequent evacuation of N.C. State’s Reynolds Coliseum yesterday. A transformer on the east side of the building exploded and started a fire in the basement of the 56-year old facility, which burned for over an hour, and caused one Raleigh firefighter to be treated for minor injuries. Though the men’s hoops program moved to the RBC Center several seasons ago, the facility is still used by the women’s basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball teams, as well as athletics offices.
