NCAA: Midnight Madness Moved up to 7 p.m.

Evening Madness!: The NCAA board of directors has approved a measure to move up the first practice for the 2005-06 season to be October 14th at 7 p.m. local time, thus doing away with the traditional Midnight Madness clock-watching. The measure, sponsored by the Pac-10, ensures that fans and players alike can get home at a reasonable hour, and it allows coaches to not waste a day and actually practice, instead of recovering from an event that ends at 2 a.m. Another key change passed was to allow players to play in exhibitions and still redshirt prior to the start of the regular season.
