Illinois: Illini Guard Down With Mysterious Injury

Illini Guard Down With Mysterious Injury: Illinois freshman guard Chester Frazier will miss four to eight weeks while recovering from a slight tear in his thigh. Leg injuries are common in basketball, but no one knows when, where or how Frazier suffered the injury. After completing a rigorous practice Monday, he complained about pain, so trainers checked out the leg. Tests revealed the tear, which depletes coach Bruce Weber’s depth at guard. Frazier has been point guard Dee Brown’s primary backup, logging effective minutes even though he hasn’t lit up the stat sheet. Without Frazier, Weber will likely turn to Rich McBride or Jamar Smith to give Brown a breather.
