The Other SEC Leads to Official’s Resignation: SEC referee Travis Correll has resigned after the Securities and Exchange Commission — commonly known in government circles as the SEC — found Correll was part of a fraud scheme that netted $36 million in less than two years. This season is Correll’s second as an SEC official and will be his last.
In other SEC news — the basketball conference, not regulatory agency — John Guthrie is out as the conference’s coordinator of officials. The circumstances of his removal is ambiguous, however. The conference said Guthrie resigned, but the former Georgia coach emphatically rebutted that, saying he was terminated. [12/15/05]
