Terps Extend Williams’ Shell Life: Maryland officials rewarded the continued success of coach Gary Williams by extending his contract through 2013, depending on academic and performance standards. Williams’ current contract expires in 2009, so the extension ensures stability at one of the major programs in the country. Williams has guided his alma mater to a national championship in 2002 and is eight wins short of passing Lefty Driesell as the school’s all-time leader in coaching wins. [12/20/05]
