Villanova: Sumpter Shuts Down for the Season

Sumpter Shuts Down for the Season: Villanova senior forward Curtis Sumpter will not play this season for the Wildcats, opting instead to take a medical redshirt to preserve his final year of eligibility. Sumpter tore his ACL in October, the second time within a year he suffered the same injury. He had wanted to return to the Wildcats’ lineup this season to finish his senior season with his classmates Allan Ray, Randy Foye and Jason Fraser. Last season, Sumpter averaged 15.3 points per game. He is Villanova’s best post player when healthy. [3/01/06]
