Barnes Out at Mississippi: Mississippi officials announced that coach Rod Barnes will not return to lead the team next season, but he will finish this season with the Rebels. They did not specify whether they fired Barnes or he resigned. The Rebels are 14-14 this season and 4-11 in the SEC entering Saturday’s game against LSU. Mississippi started the season 13-3 but bombed in conference play, leading to Barnes’ removal. In eight seasons at his alma mater, Barnes has compiled a 141-107 record.
