Big South Conference Championship: No. 1 Winthrop became the first team to qualify for the NCAA Tournament by virtue of winning its conference’s tournament. The Eagles beat No. 2 Coastal Carolina 51-50 as junior center Craig Bradshaw drained a turnaround baseline jumper in the closing seconds, giving Winthrop the lead and the game. The Eagles have become a perennial NCAA Tournament contender in the Big South Conference. Winthrop became the first team of Saturday to join Pennsylvania in the NCAA Tournament. The Quakers clinched their spot Friday night.
