Sun Belt Conference Tournament: The Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinals opened with Denver edging host Middle Tennessee State 58-57. Yemi Nicholson was able to put back a missed three-point attempt with 0.8 seconds left to give the Pioneers the win. Denver moves on to play the winner of South Alabama vs. Arkansas-Little Rock.

No. 1E Western Kentucky was able to continue its great three-point shooting against No. 4W New Orleans. The Hilltoppers were 12-of-21 from behind the arc in their 80-61 win. They will now face either Louisiana-Lafayette or Troy in the semifinals.

No. 1W South Alabama was able to explode in the second-half against No. 4E Arkansas – Little Rock and eventually came away with the 78-53 win. South Alabama will face No.3W Denver Monday.

Day two ended with a bang as No. 2W UL Lafayette was able to survive a scare from Troy in overtime. Senior center Chris Cameron nailed a three-pointer with 0.8 seconds left in the extra period for the 62-59 win. The Ragin’ Cajuns will face No. 1E Western Kentucky in the semifinals. [3/05/06]
