Patriot League Tournament: No. 1 Bucknell cruised to the Patriot League championship with a 64-50 victory against No. 4 American. The Bison jumped out to a 35-22 halftime lead and held the Eagles to 36 percent shooting for the game to squash any comeback attempt. Junior center Chris McNaughton and senior guard Kevin Bettencourt led the Bison with 16 points apiece. Bucknell will play No. 2 Holy Cross Friday in the championship.
Holy Cross advanced to the championship by beating No. 3 Lehigh 73-66 in the other semifinal game. The Crusaders played at home in Worcester, Mass., and junior guard Keith Simmons helped make the Mountain Hawks’ visit unwelcome. Simmons led Holy Cross with 20 points, and junior guard Kevin Hamilton added 18 points. [3/05/06]
