Kentucky squeezed out a 68-61 victory against No. 2W Alabama Friday afternoon. Despite not scoring their 10th point until 7:48 remaining in the first half, the Wildcats ended the half with a 23-22 lead. Junior forward Bobby Perry and senior guard Patrick Sparks were right behind Crawford with 13 points apiece.  The ‘Cats move on to face No. 5E South Carolina in the opening game Saturday.

No. 1W LSU showed why the Tigers were the regular-season champions against No. 4E Vanderbilt. Sophomore forward Glen Davis and company never lost the lead and, for the most part, Vanderbilt did not even threaten.
