Western Athletic Conference Championship: No. 1 Nevada survived a valiant effort from No. 2 Utah State in the championship game, winning 70-63 in overtime. Junior forward Nick Fazekas led the Wolf Pack with 23 points and 14 rebounds, including two free throws in regulation that gave Nevada a two-point lead before Utah State tied it in the final minute to force overtime. In the extra session, the Wolf Pack drained 10 of 12 free throw attempts to pull away for the championship, likely ending Utah State’s NCAA Tournament aspirations. [3/11/06]
