Westphal Lost in Waves’ Overwash: Pepperdine officials fired coach Paul Westphal Wednesday after the Waves finished a 7-20 season. Westphal had coached the Waves for five seasons but did not yield as much success as he has had earlier in his career. He has coached the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and Seattle SuperSonics. He also played 12 years in the league, including for Boston when the Celtics won the 1974 world title.
