Purple Ace Dies in Car Crash: Evansville forward Eric Ottens died in a car crash Friday night near his hometown of Morrison, Ill. Ottens ran a stop sign, and another car hit his vehicle, according to police reports. The school held an impromptu memorial service to remember Ottens yesterday evening. Ottens graduated in December and was working on a master’s degree while finishing his final season of eligibility. He averaged six points and 2.2 rebounds per game for the Purple Aces. [3/19/06]
