Pittsburgh: Panthers Keep Dixon at Home

Panthers Keep Dixon at Home: Pittsburgh officials granted coach Jamie Dixon a longer and more lucrative contract to pre-empt any tempting offers from schools with coaching vacancies, such as Arizona State and Missouri. The contract extension will keep Dixon with the Panthers through 2013 and will pay him $800,000 to $900,000 per season. His previous salary was one of the lowest in the Big East, which did not reflect the team’s success. In three seasons, Dixon has compiled a 76-22 record at Pitt. [3/28/06]
