Balkman Hopes NIT Counts in Draft: South Carolina junior forward Renaldo Balkman has decided to enter the NBA Draft, hoping that his strong play in the NIT will catapult his stock. Balkman averaged 9.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Gamecocks, but his production increased toward the end of the season. South Carolina made a run to the SEC Tournament final before winning its second consecutive NIT title. NBA scouts indicated that Balkman is likely a second-round pick at best. He did not hire an agent, so if his stock does not improve drastically, he could easily return to school. [5/01/06]
