Smith Leaves Chippewas: Central Michigan coach Jay Smith has resigned to spend more time with his family, according to school reports. In nine seasons at the helm, Smith led Central Michigan to a 95-160 record. The Chippewas most noteworthy success under Smith was in 2003 when Central Michigan won 25 games, captured the MAC championship and beat Creighton in the NCAA Tournament. [5/15/06]
