Iowa: Hawkeyes Add Two Coaches to Staff

Hawkeyes Add Two Coaches to Staff: Iowa coach Steve Alford announced that he has hired former Ball State head coach Tim Buckley and former Seton Hall assistant coach Billy Garrett as
assistants. This comes just three weeks after Alford said he would not extend the contracts of former assistants Rich Walker and Greg Lansing. Buckley was the Cardinals’ coach from 2000-06, and he had a 93-77 record. He is 143-139 during his head coaching career. Buckley reunites with Alford, as the two were at Rockford College in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

As for Garrett, he heads to Iowa City after helping lead the Pirates to two NCAA tournament appearances. National recruiting analyst Van Coleman said Seton Hall sophomore-to-be David Palmer will likely follow Garrett to Iowa as a transfer. [5/19/06]
